Wedding Venues Ottawa » Featuring Strathmere
If you are looking for outdoor wedding venues in Ottawa, you will want to take a look at Strathmere! The first time I photographed a wedding at Strathmere was a few years ago for Daphne and Steve at the Garden House. Strathmere features three different buildings. Each building has outdoor ceremony spaces and gorgeous rustic indoor areas for receptions. The grounds are surrounded by tall trees and open fields. An all around amazing Ottawa wedding venue!
Jessica and Kent
Jessica and Kent wanted a wedding day that was lighthearted and meaningful. They didn’t let a few hiccups take away from their experience, which is so important. When planning an outdoor wedding, many elements can be unpredictable. For example, the weather! It was threatening rain all day, but Jessica and Kent knew they wanted to keep with their outdoor ceremony. Strathmere did a great job being flexible with their needs and kept the seating dry as the guests were arriving.
After the ceremony we ventured out to the front of the property of Strathmere for some photos. I bring clear umbrellas with me to shoots *just in case* and it made for some romantic portraits. Jessica and Kent and Kent embraced the time together to connect and enjoy the gorgeous scenery.
At the end of the day, weddings are about celebrating your relationship surrounded by your favourite people and things. And what does it matter if your dress gets a little dirty along the way! (Which is one of my favourite pictures for the day, for sure!) Jessica and Kent loved hosting their outdoor wedding at Strathmere – check out their wedding review at the bottom of this post!
Other Outdoor Wedding Venues in Ottawa
La Belvedere , a high-end cliffside venue outside of Ottawa. If you want to combine luxury with nature, this is your ideal spot!
The Herb Garden, a gorgeous garden with barn that has a lovely mix of indoor and outdoor options.
Jessica and Kent were also considering Aquatopia for their wedding venue in Ottawa, but opted for the open-air option at Strathmere. Aquafina reminds me of the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory where I photographed Tavia and Andrew’s wedding!
Gatineau Park has many gorgeous spots for outdoor ceremonies, and would be especially perfect for an adventure elopement!
Ottawa Wedding Photographer for your dream outdoor wedding
I love providing couples candid and intimate photography coverage for their outdoor weddings and elopements in Ottawa! Here is what Jessica and Kent had to say about working with me:
Gorgeous Fall Wedding Photos
Jessica’s just amazing.
One of our favourite vendors throughout the entire wedding planning process. Patient, friendly, professional, intuitive, and super organized.
We love our wedding pictures. Candid and natural for the hubby and I, smiley poses for the traditional parents. Her surveys and consistent communications helped pin-points the moments we wanted to be captured for the big day. She snagged every one of them.
I set my wedding in October to have those colours in the backdrop pop. With a gray sky and lucky precipitation, Jessica captured the colours masterfully and made taking pictures in the rain a blast.
We highly recommend jals photography.” – Jessica & Kent

I looooove autumn weddings! Beautifully captured!
What a gorgeous couple, and a great guide! It’s super true that when planning an outdoor wedding, it’s more like “negotiating” and “hoping” than “planning”. You’ve always got to leave some wiggle room for nature to have her way.
those fall colors are to die for! I love their table design too!
