Destination Wedding in Ontario

Do you think of Ontario as a big destination wedding location? If not, you should! With so many gorgeous resorts and lakes, Ontario deserves to be higher on the list! Stephanie and Corey planned their destination wedding at Timber House Resort in Brighton. With Corey’s work, they move around a lot. So even though their new home is in Manitoba, they knew they wanted to get married at a spot close to their hearts. Since they spent many formative years of their relationship in Brighton, it was the perfect fit!

Having a destination wedding at Timber House Resort is wonderful! It is a fantastic location if you want a glamorous rustic feel (yes, those words can go together!). It is also a spot with a beautiful outdoor setting. A quick walk from the suites and you have reached the shores of Lake Ontario. A few years ago, I photographed Danielle and Graeme’s Timber House wedding, and they arrived to the venue by boat! (Fun fact – Stephanie and Corey were guests at that wedding, and that is how we connected!) The grounds at Timber House Resort are bright green and tree covered and they have a beautiful area set up for outdoor wedding ceremonies.

Stephanie and Corey got ready in separate suites in the inn before heading to Lake Ontario for their first look. Their outdoor wedding ceremony was provided by the phenomenal Dawn Quantrell. We had a brief couples session and spent the rest of the celebration mixing and mingling with guests. Speeches and dinner were held in the tent that Timber House connects to the main resort. Stephanie and Corey wanted their wedding day coverage to be as close to documentary style as possible. I love providing “fly on the wall” coverage to capture all of the nuances in the day.

There were so many highlights that stand out in my mind – the windy first look by Lake Ontario, a helicopter flyby, Stephanie’s amazing purple dancing shoes, and a heart-filled rendition of “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” by Corey’s friends. The most unique moment of their wedding? Stephanie’s bridesmaids lovingly helping her re-pierce her ear with the help of whisky! It was an amazing wedding and it’s easy to see how Ontario can be the perfect spot for a gorgeous outdoor destination wedding!
