Yosemite Elopement (Styled Session)

In my Yosemite Adventure Session post I talk about how transformative The Adventurers Workshop with Maddie Mae and the Hearnes was. Yosemite has been a place that I dreamed about visiting for a long time, and doing so under the leadership of such amazing photographers was life-changing! I know that I can’t just fly down to Yosemite and photograph elopements at a moment’s notice, so I feel so lucky that I was able to do this styled elopement session. The skills that I learned from this elopement have embedded themselves in my work throughout the year. Because of this elopement session, I am no longer terrified of direct sunlight (even though I’ll still suggest my clients aim for golden hour!). I incorporate more movement. I talk more with my couples more about connecting. I observe more. I add more fun. And I truly just see things in a different way. It was an amazing kick-off to my first full year dedicated to outdoor wedding and elopements! I love being an Ontario destination wedding photographer and look forward to more fun sessions like this in the future!

A little bit about the Yosemite elopement couple. Kim and Ryan are literal superstars! Their space net wedding photographs by the Hearnes went viral multiple times, and now, Kim is a new face for Athleta! They are such a sweet couple who are genuinely interested in connecting with the people that they meet. I’m pretty sure they each took the time to talk to each and every photographer who was there! One thing I noticed about them is that their love is boundless. It’s not a word I think of often when I think of couples I work with, but it fits them perfectly. They are passionate. They are free. They support each other. They are open. It was a true delight to photograph them for this Yosemite elopement session!
